Roberto Mancini has tipped Carlos Tevez to be a success in Serie A if he completes his move to Juventus.

Manchester City are understood to have accepted a bid from the Italian champions for the striker, who has one year left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium.

And Tevez, a City player since joining from Manchester United four years ago, is expected to leave.

Mancini and Tevez had an up-and-down relationship during their time together in Manchester with the Italian making the Argentine captain but later declaring he was "finished" with the club after the forward refused to warm up to go on in a Champions League game against Bayern Munich.

But Tevez returned to City and, after going six months without a first-team game, helped them win the title that season before becoming a regular for Mancini in the most recent campaign - although the 48-year-old was sacked after the FA Cup final defeat to Wigan.

And former Fiorentina, Lazio and Inter manager Mancini expects Tevez to excel for Juventus, who have been Serie A champions for the last two seasons.

"He is an extraordinary player, capable, with great technique and talent," Mancini told TuttoJuve.com. "He will certainly do well at Juventus. I can't wait to see him in action in Italy."

City are reported to be receiving an initial fee of €9 million (£7.6m) for Tevez, with add-ons that could earn them another €3m (£2.54m).
