Corinthians president Maria Gobbi Filho has confirmed that Tottenham target Paulinho's departure from the club is "imminent".

The Brazil midfielder, currently on international duty at the Confederations Cup, has claimed that the Premier League club have registered a firm interest in his services.

Although he has been careful not to discuss a potential move in too much detail he believes a move to White Hart Lane would suit his style.

In an official club statement Filho has said that Corinthians are already lining up potential replacements for the departing star.

He said: "Besides the signings we also suffered harassment of the top clubs in the world on some of our key players.

"We make every effort to keep them, but we have to evaluate the good proposals and understand the goals and aspirations of life of each of our athletes.

"With the imminent departure of Paulinho we trust in football other players that are being prepared for some time, as William and Edenilson, or even the newly hired Ibson."
