Roberto Martinez is likely to have his backroom staff selected by the time he begins work at Everton next week, with his assistant from Wigan, Graeme Jones, set to be among the coaching ranks.

The Spaniard will hold his first pre-season training session with the Toffees on Wednesday and it is believed Martinez will overhaul the current coaching staff at Goodison Park.

Assistant manager Steve Round, coach Jimmy Lumsden and goalkeeping coach Chris Woods all appear set to follow David Moyes to Manchester United.

Everton chief executive Robert Elstone backed Martinez's decision to hand pick his staff for next season, insisting it will help the former Wigan boss to make an immediate impact.

"For Roberto to bring in his team is absolutely what he wants to do and we want to support him on it," Elstone told evertontv. "We are working hard to do that and I'm hoping in the near future that Roberto will have his team.

"He is also integrating into a very strong, solid team that already exists here. There is a real spirit at Finch Farm and lot of experience. I know he will want to retain that Everton spirit but yes, he does want his own support team around him.

"We are working to make that happen and I'm sure we will succeed on that in the very near future."

Everton rejected Manchester United's bid for Leighton Baines on Friday as the club insisted their left-back is "not for sale". But Elstone insists any players who decide to leave will do so on good terms.

"Whoever ultimately moves on to new pastures goes with our best wishes and our thanks for all their contribution they have made to Everton Football Club."
