Moyes drafts in backroom staff
David Moyes has marked his first official day as manager of Manchester United by appointing former Everton No. 2 Steve Round as his new assistant at Old Trafford.
Round takes over from Rene Meulensteen, who left the Premier League champions last week in the wake of Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement at the end of last season.
The 42-year-old was Moyes' assistant at Goodison Park for five seasons, having replaced Alan Irvine in 2008.
Former England international Chris Woods also follows Moyes to United to become the club's new goalkeeping coach after the departure of Eric Steele; as does Jimmy Lumsden, who will form part of the club's coaching staff.
"Everton have agreed to release Steve Round, Chris Woods and Jimmy Lumsden from their coaching contracts," Everton said in a statement on their official website. "The trio were contracted to the Blues but they will now move to Manchester United following discussions between the two clubs."
Moyes' first official day at work at Carrington comes amid reports that he is to hold talks with Wayne Rooney over the forward's future at the club.
The capture of reported transfer targets Thiago Alcantara, Leighton Baines and Ezequiel Garay are also high on the agenda, while club vice-captain Patrice Evra is subject to interest from former club Monaco.
