Manchester United and Napoli target Kevin Strootman will remain with PSV Eindhoven for another season, the club's sporting director has said.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, Marcel Brands has denied speculation that the highly-rated 23-year-old midfielder could leave the Eredivisie this summer.

"We do not want to lose Strootman this summer. He knows that he will stay at PSV for another season," Brands said.

Strootman's agent has previously talked up a move to the Premier League for his client, saying: "He is focused on England because that would suit his style."

The former Utrecht and Sparta Rotterdam player is contracted to PSV until 2016, but United have a good relationship with the club following their signing of Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2001.

PSV have already sold Erik Pieters to Stoke and Dries Mertens to Napoli while Ola Toivonen is in talks about a move to Norwich.
