Paulinho has outlined his ambition to be Tottenham Hotspur's version of Chelsea's goalscoring midfielder Frank Lampard.

The Brazil international is soon expected to complete a £17 million move to Spurs from Corinthians as Andre Villas-Boas looks to bolster his midfield.

Paulinho is targeting an immediate impact at Spurs as he looks to emulate the form of Lampard, having been likened to the Chelsea star by former Argentina international Juan Roman Riquelme.

He said in the Sun: "This comparison is a responsibility I will take, I will not run away from it. Lampard is a great player not only for Chelsea but world football.

"I intend to follow in his footsteps as he is a very professional guy. David Luiz always speaks of him on international duty.

"I've always looked at what Lampard does and, to me, he is a phenomenon - the way he hits the ball, what positions he takes up. He really is incredible."

Paulinho's mooted arrival does, however, appear to spell the end for Scott Parker at White Hart Lane, with the Guardian reporting Queens Park Rangers could make a £2 million move for the England international.
