Swansea chief 'staggered' by Ince fee

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins believes the price that Welsh rivals Cardiff City are set to pay for Blackpool midfielder Tom Ince is "staggering".

Blackpool boss Paul Ince - the player's father - confirmed last week that the Championship club had accepted a bid from Premier League new boys Cardiff, thought to be around £8 million.

Liverpool are in line to receive a 35% share of any fee Blackpool receive for their former trainee due to a sell-on clause in the deal which took Ince to Bloomfield Road in 2011.

Jenkins - whose most recent signings include Michu for £2 million and Spain international Pablo Hernandez for a club-record £5.5 million - believes the Bluebirds are paying over the odds despite 21-year-old Ince being one of the most highly rated young English talents.

"Our manager has been keen on Tom Ince for a while, ever since he played for Blackpool against us," he told talkSPORT. "The prices that have been quoted for Tom Ince are staggering though.

"There's no doubt he's going to get a move this summer, but I'm not sure where he'll end up going."

Bitter South Wales rivals Swansea and Cardiff will meet in the top flight for the first time this season when the Capital One Cup holders travel to the capital on November 2.
