Dortmund expected to tie up 'difficult' Mkhitaryan deal
Borussia Dortmund are set to conclude a club record €25 million move for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan on Monday, according to reports.
Mkhitaryan, 24, had been a key target for Liverpool but appears to have opted to join the Champions League runners-up as a replacement for Germany midfielder Mario Gotze.
Early on Monday, pictures showing Mkhitaryan travelling to Germany surfaced on Twitter, and Sky Germany reported that he was poised to wrap up his transfer despite earlier denials that a fee had been agreed.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc, quoted in kicker, said: "We are working on it. We are still in talks."
Sueddeutsche Zeitung, meanwhile, said the deal would be "the most difficult transfer ever done by a German club".
It said Mkhitaryan's transfer rights are held by three different parties, with Shakthar holding 50% and the other half shared by his former clubs, Metalurg Donezk and Pyunik Eriwan.
According to the paper, the owners of the three clubs had wanted to sell him to Russian outfit Anzhi for a reported €35 million. It said he had turned down the move and hired agent Mino Raiola to help him.
