Report: Al Fayed considering Fulham sale

Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed is preparing to sell the club after 16 years in charge, according to a report in the Daily Mail on Wednesday.

Al Fayed, 84, transformed the West London club after buying them for £6.25 million in 1997 from a team in danger of dropping out of the Football League into a secure Premier League outfit and invested around £200 million in the process.

But now he appears ready to step aside following serious interest from investors in the United States, with the possibility that a takeover could be completed before the Cottagers begin their Premier League campaign at Sunderland next month.

Speculation has linked Shad Khan, owner of Florida-based NFL team Jacksonville Jaguars, with Fulham.
