Capello's player rating website postponed until after WC
The much-maligned 'Capello Index' player ratings system will not be used until after the World Cup, following an outcry about the possibilty of the England boss publicly rating his own players at the finals.
Capello's computer-based player analysis program had been set to debut in South Africa, but the Italian coach was lambasted by the press after revealing the venture on Monday.
The reaction has been intensely anti-Capello, with many feeling that it would be a conflict of interests for him to analyse his own players after each match at the tournament.
And a source inside the England camp has revealed to Soccernet that an upset and surprised Capello will now wait until after the finals to begin using the index.
"He was extremely upset because he has been completely misunderstood," the source told Soccernet. "He was giving his advice on the process of the best way you can judge players and how you can judge players better than they've been judged before.
"As for judging his own players during the tournament, that was never on the agenda and he is amazed that anyone could think that it would be.
"The way Fabio Capello judges his players might be slightly different to this way, but to avoid any doubt he has postponed giving his advice on players until after the World Cup and that will ensure that it will not cause any problems.
Coverage of the 'Capello Index' and the widespread criticism it has received has thus far overshadowed the day that Capello names his preliminary 30-man World Cup finals squad.
