David de Gea would welcome Cesc Fabregas at Manchester United, amid reports the Premier League champions are willing to break their transfer record in order to land the Spain international.

United are reported to have made a €30 million bid for former Arsenal midfielder Fabregas, although Barca are yet to respond to the approach as manager David Moyes plans for the 2013-14 season.

Barca boss Tito Vilanova insisted on Tuesday that the 26-year-old wants to stay at the Camp Nou, but the Guardian claims the La Liga champions "need the money", having spent lavishly on Neymar this summer.

The Daily Mirror, meanwhile, suggests United are open to paying up to £31m for Fabregas, a fee that would surpass the £30.8m they paid Tottenham for Dimitar Berbatov in 2008.

Asked about his compatriot, De Gea, who signed for United from Atletico Madrid in 2011, is quoted as saying in the Guardian: "It would be great if Cesc came here.

"It would be great to have more Spanish players at Manchester United. He is a great player, very skilful, knows how to win things and you always want those type of players in your team."
