David Moyes has confirmed Manchester United have tabled a bid for Cesc Fabregas and expects developments on the move for the Barcelona star in the coming days.

Currently in Sydney, Australia for the second-leg of their East Asia and Australia pre-season tour, Moyes told reporters before Saturday's match against the A-League All-Stars that he hoped to have "good news" in the coming days concerning other new acquisitions, thought to include Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay.

United are trying to negotiate a deal for Fabregas after the club made initial contact with Barcelona for the services of the Spain international, with club chief executive Ed Woodward returning to Europe to handle transfer business.

But Moyes hinted that the 26-year-old Spain midfielder may not be the only business to be completed before the close of the transfer window.

"As far as players we are looking to bring in, we're working hard to do that, were trying very hard to make some additions to the squad and hopefully there will be some good news in the not too distant future," Moyes said.

And when quizzed on the transfer of Cesc, Moyes added: "I couldn't tell you exactly without contact with the chief executive who has been dealing with it just now.

"But I might have a little bit more information in the next day or so on how it's going."
