Manuel Pellegrini missed his second game in charge of Manchester City after flying back to his native Chile for family reasons.

In his absence, the FA Cup finalists lost 2-1 to South African side AmaZulu FC in Durban.

Aleksandar Kolarov gifted the home side an early goal, James Milner levelled for City but Abdul Razak conceded a last-minute penalty which Carlington Nyadombo converted to condemn City, who had already been beaten 2-0 by Supersport, to a second successive defeat.

Assistant manager Brian Kidd took charge but said Pellegrini had planned for the game before his departure.

"He had to go back to Chile for personal reasons and everybody missed the boss," Kidd told City's official website. "He picked the team. He did discuss it and then the substitutions, [with] some of the boys getting more playing time."

Goalkeeper Joe Hart told the club's official website: "It was not great again. We can obviously play a lot better. We are trying to play a certain type of football and it will come.

"We are a little bit spaced out. As soon as we get our compactness we will be alright. We are disappointed with the two results but things will come good."

David Silva and Jesus Navas will join up with City in Hong Kong for the next stage of their pre-season tour. Both had been granted extra time off after featuring in the Confederations Cup for Spain.
