Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has revealed the Ligue 1 champions will not be trying to sign Wayne Rooney from Manchester United.

The England international has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer - with the striker left 'angry and confused' about how the situation is being dealt with at United.

New United manager David Moyes has signalled his intentions not to sell Rooney and declared the former Everton man will not leave the club, and only last week Chelsea had a bid for the frontman rejected.

PSG have been one of the clubs mooted to make a move for Rooney, but the French champions appear to have put themselves out of contention after Blanc said the 27-year-old is someone they are not looking at.

"He is an amazing player, his qualities are well known by everyone. But in attack we are well supplied," Blanc said.

"We will rather look for players in midfield. If there should be another reinforcement, it should be in that position. Rooney could play anywhere, but his best position is in the heart of attack."
