Arsene Wenger refused to be drawn on his pursuit of Luis Suarez

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre insists the club have no intention of selling Luis Suarez.

Ayre confirmed that Arsenal have made two bids for Suarez, both of which Liverpool have turned down.

The latest bid is believed to be an offer of £40,000,001, triggering a clause in Suarez's contract which allows Arsenal to talk to the player.

In contrast to Ayre's statement, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers had hinted earlier this week that the player could leave Anfield if Arsenal upped their valuation of Suarez significantly. Liverpool are believed to be lining up a move for Roberto Soldado as a potential replacement.

"It's never been our intention to sell Luis," Ayre said.

"We've received two separate offers from Arsenal and rejected both."

Suarez made his first appearance for Liverpool since April in their 2-0 friendly win over Melbourne Victory in Australia as their pre-season tour continues. The forward is in contention to play against Thailand on Sunday.
