Ibrahimovic set for pay rise at PSG

Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to be given a significant pay rise in the coming days as Paris Saint-Germain continue a drive to keep their key assets at the club.

Thiago Silva and Marco Verratti have already agreed improved terms to stay with the French champions and L'Equipe reports that Ibrahimovic, 31, is the next in line to benefit.

The Sweden captain, who scored 30 goals in Ligue 1 last season, will reportedly see his annual wage boosted from €14 million per year to as much as €16m.

Linked to Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester City during the close season, Ibrahimovic indicated last week that he wanted to talk to PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi about his future.

PSG did not believe that there was any real danger that the former AC Milan and Barcelona forward would leave this summer. But having seen the club offer Silva a pay rise, it was always likely that Ibrahimovic would seek to renegotiate his deal too.

L'Equipe reports that PSG managing director Jean-Claude Blanc met with Ibrahimovic's agent, Mino Raiola, last week and that negotiations could be wrapped up by the weekend.

Ibrahimovic is under contract until 2015 and an extension is not out of the question, although it is thought that his age might count against him.

L'Equipe also reports that PSG are keen to conclude negotiations with three more players.

Defender Mamadou Sakho, 23, and midfielders Blaise Matuidi and Jeremy Menez, both 26, have contracts that expire at the end of the season.
