Gary Hooper has traded in UEFA Champions League football for a chance in the Premier League

Gary Hooper admits he left Celtic for Norwich in the hope that he can gatecrash Roy Hodgson's England squad for next summer's World Cup.

The 25-year-old has signed a four-year deal at Carrow Road after finding the back of the net 82 times in three seasons at Celtic.

And after failing to impress Hodgson despite his prolific form in Scotland, Hooper believes plying his trade in the Premier League provides him with the perfect platform to win his first England cap.

Hooper said: "I wanted to play in the Premier League and to try to get an England call-up. I think there's a good chance of that.

"You don't really get a look in up there [in Scotland]. Down here you've got more chance. The main thing is playing, getting on the pitch first, and doing what I do.

"To play for your country is anyone's dream, but my first dream is to play in the Premier League."
