Tottenham have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Valencia to sign Roberto Soldado subject to a medical.

Reports in Valencia sports daily Superdeporte said that the 28-year-old striker is due to undergo a medical on Thursday after signing a contract at 00:30 on Wednesday, enabling a move to White Hart Lane for €30 million.

It is believed the terms of the deal mean Tottenham will make an initial payment of €12m with three further payments of €6m over the next three years. Reports earlier this week had suggested a deal was very close to being struck.

Valencia will now turn their attention to replacing the Spain international striker, with former Spurs player Helga Postiga expected to join from Zaragoza this week.

Soldado, who began his career at Real Madrid, scored 82 goals in 141 appearances for Valencia and hit 24 last season.
