Wilfried Bony was at the double as Swansea routed Malmo 4-0 to take a commanding first-leg lead in their Europa League third-round qualifier.

Michu, who netted 22 goals last term, opened the scoring at the Liberty Stadium in the 37th minute after pouncing on a defensive slip with a cool finish.

Bony, on his competitive debut for the club after signing from Vitesse Arnhem for £12 million, then glanced home Wayne Routledge's cross ten minutes after the restart.

Five minutes later Bony added his second by tucking in the rebound after Michu struck the post. Alejandro Pozuelo rounded off the scoring late on.

Elsewhere, St Johnstone put themselves in the driving seat for their return leg with FC Minsk with a narrow 1-0 victory in Grodno.

Stevie MacLean netted a precious away goal in the 70th minute, with St Johnstone on track to add another scalp having knocked out Norwegian heavyweights Rosenborg.

However Motherwell have it all to do to progress to the play-off round after going down 2-0 to Kuban Krasnodar at home, with Ivelin Popov scoring twice for the visitors.
