Luiz Gustavo appears to be surplus to requirements under Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo could reject a move to Wolfsburg as he holds out for Arsenal or Chelsea to come in for him.

Gustavo, 26, appears certain to leave Munich, having fallen down the pecking order following the signing of Thiago Alcantara and in light of new coach Pep Guardiola's tactical adjustments.

Fellow Bundesliga side Wolfsburg looked to be leading the race for his signature, but Bild believes he would prefer a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Chelsea reported to be interested.

Gustavo, a relatively new member of Luiz Felipe Scolari's Brazil squad, appears to be seeking the chance to play in Europe ahead of the 2014 World Cup. Wolfsburg, who finished last season in mid-table, therefore face a tough task in persuading the player to join.

"Big clubs are interested in him," Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told kicker.

Speaking to Sport1, Rummenigge added: "The question is whether Luiz wants to join a club that will sadly not even play [in Europe] next season, or if he wants greater things."
