Wenger: Arsenal respectful of Liverpool in Suarez chase

Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal will act in a "respectful and amicable way" in their pursuit of Luis Suarez.

Wenger has indicated that he will respect Liverpool's wishes if they are determined not to sell Suarez to Arsenal.

John W. Henry, the Liverpool principal owner, revealed on Wednesday that he had contacted Ivan Gazidis, the Arsenal chief executive, to warn him off attempting to sign Suarez.

Henry is adamant that Suarez will not be sold this summer at any price - and dismissed the notion of selling him to Arsenal as "ludicrous".

Arsenal have made two bids for Suarez, both of which have been rejected.

The second offer, of £40,000,001 on July 23, was made in the apparent belief that it would trigger a release clause in Suarez's contract - but Liverpool insist there isn't one.

Wenger, speaking at a press conference in Helsinki ahead of Saturday's friendly against Manchester City, said: "There is nothing to add to what I said already about the transfer of Suarez. If it will be done, it will be done in a respectful and amicable way with Liverpool.

"I didn't read his [Henry's] statements but we'll be faithful to the way we want to behave.

"To make a transfer happen, you need the agreement of three parties - the buyer, the seller and the player.

"We know what we want to do. The player, if I look at the statements, does as well. Liverpool at the moment do not agree. If they change their minds or not, I don't know. We'll respect that.

"We are looking at possibilities to strengthen our squad. Suarez is one of the targets. If he's not for sale, he's not for sale. We have to accept that.

"Every club has its own way of dealing with things, we have our way and we respect all the other clubs."
