ESPN FC: Moyes aims to make his mark

Roberto Martinez believes Manchester United's interest in Leighton Baines is a thing of the past.

The former Everton manager David Moyes put in a £12 million offer for the England left-back at the end of June.

But it was swiftly rejected at Goodison Park and while there have been reports United would return with a higher bid, Everton have not received one.

And now manager Martinez is confident Everton can look forward to a future with Baines remaining in their team.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "Before we went to Austria one club officially contacted ourselves with an offer and it was a final offer.

"They put something over and the valuation wasn't anywhere near the quality of Leighton Baines. That was the end of it but since then there's been all the speculation, which has been part of what the transfer window is.

"There's never been another club or anyone else putting in an offer for Leighton. Since then we've moved on and we're continuing to focus on the start of the season."

United have also been linked with Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini but are yet to make a bid for the Belgium international.
