Pompey apply for licence to play in Europa League

Portsmouth have made a formal application to the FA for a UEFA club licence in an attempt to seal a place in next season's Europa League.
The south coast club would go through as beaten FA Cup finalists due to Chelsea sealing qualification for the Champions League before winning last weekend's final.
The cash-strapped club saw a similar appeal turned down last month as they were not in a position to file their accounts in time because of being in administration - a criterion for a UEFA club licence.
Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou said after that decision: "It's wrong for the fans that they should not be allowed to support their club in Europe next season."
