Campbell confirms offer of one-year deal at Arsenal

Sol Campbell has told ESPNsoccernet that he wants to sign the new contract being discussed by Arsenal, but that he has been flattered by approaches from Celtic.
Campbell has been offered a new one-year term by Arsene Wenger after his remarkable comeback at the age of 35, but Celtic have lodged a strong challenge for his services this summer.
"I worked very hard to get back to my best and to play in the Champions League again, and I would love the opportunity to continue at Arsenal,'' he told Soccernet. "Although a one-year contract has been offered, these things take some time to thrash out - and I imagine Arsene has quite a lot to deal with at the moment, particularly with Fabregas!
"I am in no rush, I would like to stay with Arsenal if I could, however, Celtic are a massive club, a great club, with massive support."
With his club future as yet undecided, Campbell is more sure of his international ambitions as he has not been in demand from Fabio Capello.
Campbell, with his vast experience of World Cup tournaments, was not considered for the 30-man England squad heading to South Africa, even though Capello was forced to bring Jamie Carragher out of retirement.
Campbell confessed that he remains puzzled: ''After my performances at the back end of the season, it doesn't make sense, as I was still fresh compared to many players who are exhausted after a long season.
"I have never met Capello, but you get the sense that he has never liked me as a player because he has never considered me, as far as I know, which is curious. It cannot be my age, because he tried to persuade Paul Scholes to come out of retirement and also went for Jamie Carragher.''
