Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said he remains confident that the Gunners will sign fresh talent before the transfer window closes on Monday night.

Wenger again stressed that he would only spend money to capture "super talents" after a summer of frustration chasing big names.

Arsenal have seen ambitious bids to sign Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney and Gonzalo Higuain fall through, but after watching his side beat North London rivals Tottenham 1-0 at the Emirates, Wenger said: "I am not against spending money, and maybe in the next 24 hours I will surprise you.

"I want to add super quality to our squad or not at all. Tottenham got money for Bale and they have re-invested it. I understand that, but it is different for us.

"If I say I am still confident [about new signings], that may not mean too much because I have delivered very little until now. I'm ready to pay what we can afford - even if it's a bit over the market [value], so long as it's not crazy."

Arsenal are still believed to be interested in Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye, while they have been heavily linked with Real Madrid midfielders Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria in recent days.
