Roy Hodgson was left fuming after he was snubbed by his former club Liverpool according to a report in the Sun.

The newspaper claims that Hodgson was denied access to the Liverpool directors' box, as would normally be the case for a visiting England manager, during the game at Anfield against Manchester United and had to watch from an area reserved for scouts.

The paper quoted a source as saying that Hodgson "felt it was disrespectful to a representative of the FA and pointed out this was the first time anything like this had happened to him since he took over as England manager".

The report said that when Hodgson threatened to leave at half-time a club representative went to apologise and invite him to the box but he declined.
