Sturridge to miss crunch Ukraine clash
Daniel Sturridge has been ruled out of England's crucial World Cup qualifier against Ukraine with a groin strain.
Sturridge had returned to Liverpool for treatment on the injury before England's 4-0 win over Moldova on Friday, and was rated 50-50 as to whether he could play a part on Tuesday but has not recovered in time.
The withdrawal leaves Roy Hodgson's options up front extremely limited with Wayne Rooney also unavailable after suffering a deep cut to his head last week while Danny Welbeck picked up a booking against Moldova that earned him a one-match suspension.
Hodgson has opted not to name a replacement.
Rickie Lambert could be set to continue in his role up front after scoring his second goal in two games for England on Friday.
