Arsene Wenger is set to re-open contract talks with Arsenal in a new deal that could be worth up to £15 million, according to the Sun.

There had been calls from Arsenal supporters wanting talks over a new contract with Wenger to be put on hold following the lack of summer signings, but after the Gunners smashed their transfer record in bringing Mesut Ozil to The Emirates for £42.5m, the manager looks set to renew his contract, which expires at the end of the season, in a two-year £7.5m-a-season deal.

According to the Sun, owner Stan Kroenke and chief executive Ivan Gazidis believe Wenger deserves a new deal following the Ozil move after the German international revealed a phone call from Wenger convinced him to come to the Premier League.

The Sun also states that Wenger will have £40m to spend during the January transfer window which could go on a top-class striker.
