Wenger 'in no hurry' over new Arsenal deal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is in no rush to open talks over a new contract with the club and has hinted that any decision over his future will depend on the team's performances this season.

Wenger's current deal with the Gunners expires next summer and he has indicated that he will review his position if they continue to fall below the expectations he sets of himself and his team.

"We are not in a hurry," was his response to questions about contract talks. "We are in September, my contract finishes in June. There is a long way to go. There is no need to plan [talks].

"I said many times that I want to do well for this club. At the end, I will sit down and think how well have I done with the team I have. That is sufficient for me to decide yes or no. How we do this season is a judgement."

Wenger confirmed that he will be without midfielder Tomas Rosicky after he picked up an injury while on international duty with the Czech Republic, but he is confident of having Theo Walcott available for the trip to Sunderland on Saturday, despite the winger picking up an ankle knock in England's 0-0 draw with Ukraine on Tuesday night.
