Mourinho warns against repeat success

Jose Mourinho has warned that he may not be able to bring instant success to Chelsea, after he stressed the style of his new side will be very different to the team he enjoyed so much success with in his first spell as the club's manager.

Mourinho made an instant impact as he won the Premier League title in his first season with Chelsea following his arrival as manager first time around in 2004, but he suspects a little patience may be required before similar success can be contemplated almost a decade later.

The first Chelsea team constructed by Mourinho were notable for their power and athleticism, but defeat against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday saw a very different style of play in effect.

"No, this is not 2004 all over again," stated Mourinho. "This team has a different profile and we are not unbeatable. I came here to work with time, to develop the players and play the best they and we can.

"There were some fast combinations [at Everton] and it was very nice to see, but it is also very nice when the ball touches the net. We have what we have. We have to work this way and, one day, we are going to score four or five.

"We have to be effective, be adult and not naive. We have to transform the beautiful football we played into goals."

Meanwhile, Mourinho dismissed suggestions that he made a mistake by allowing striker Romelu Lukaku to join Everton on loan for the rest of the season and dismissed suggestions that the Belgian striker has the potential to become a striker comparable to Didier Drogba at Chelsea.

"No, no. They are not the same profile," he said of Lukaku. "It is one thing to be the same kind of body, it is another to be the same kind of player. They are completely different.

"Drogba made his history in here and Drogba is gone. Now there is no Drogba. I enjoyed that period of my career but that period has gone. There is no way back."
