Liverpool moved back to the top of the Premier League after they drew 2-2 with Swansea in an entertaining encounter at the Liberty Stadium.

Jonjo Shelvey, now in the colours of Swansea, had an eventful match against his former side as he scored and grabbed an assist for his new club, but gifted Liverpool their two goals.

The player who spent three years at Liverpool gave Swansea the lead in 90 seconds, but in the same amount of time later he handed his old side an equaliser as Daniel Sturridge benefited from an under-hit back pass.

Shelvey then gave the ball away on the halfway line for Liverpool's second, allowing Victor Moses on his debut to fire the away side into the lead.

Swansea though had their top scorer from last season Michu to thank as he levelled at 2-2 after Shelvey flicked the ball into his path in the 64th minute.

Brendan Rodgers had brought the Merseysiders to his former club with three wins from three on the board, but they were given a rude awakening when Shelvey rounded £18 million signing Mamadou Sakho with ease before curling left-footed into the net.

The England international initially celebrated with gusto but reined himself in in front of the away end.

But he had few reasons to smile moments later as a horrible backpass ended with Sturridge scoring his 12th goal in 10 games.

He then compounded the mistake by hitting a pass straight to Moses, who raced away to steer beyond Michel Vorm.

But, with his temper beginning to fray, Shelvey's clever header set Michu up for his first league goal of the season to cap a remarkable night for the former Charlton man. Liverpool though remained unbeaten to move ahead of Arsenal by a point at the top of the table.
