Christian Eriksen has said he is happy with his decision to snub Manchester City in 2012 and opt to sign for Tottenham Hotspur a year later.

Eriksen, 21, was linked with a move to City last summer but decided to remain at Ajax to continue his development in the Eredivisie.

But in August he parted company with the Dutch club to join Spurs, where he has since enjoyed an impressive debut against Norwich City.

Reflecting on the decisions he has made, Eriksen is quoted by the Mirror as saying: "It took me a while to get to England because I said no a few times. Last summer, City really wanted to sign me, but it didn't feel right.

"Maybe I wouldn't have played there - I wouldn't go to a club just to stay on the subs' bench. I didn't feel ready for a league like the Premier League, and now it looks like I moved at the right time.

"A lot of players moved from Ajax in the last year and it gave me responsibility and made me grow. It made me better. It was exciting there, but you have to wait for the right club to come along.

"I read about the history of Spurs and have seen games over the years. I know a bit about the club, they like a bit of creativity."
