Does Fernando Torres deserve to start?

Fernando Torres hopes Jose Mourinho will play him more after impressing for Chelsea in their 2-0 victory over Swindon in the Capital One League Cup.

The Spaniard opened the scoring for Chelsea and turned provider for the second for Ramires, and believes that his display will be enough to persuade Mourinho to stick him in his starting line-up.

"Hopefully I will have more opportunities to play in the Premier League," Torres told Sky Sports after the victory.

Mourinho has preferred to play with one striker up front, with new arrival Samuel Eto'o getting the nod over Torres and Demba Ba.

Torres, who signed for Chelsea from Liverpool for £50 million in 2011, sees his performance against Swindon as a chance to work his way into Mourinho's thoughts for the coming campaign.

"The season is long and we have time to play important games. We will all be involved. We are in the manager's plans. We have 25 players squad in the squad and it is difficult to play in this great team," he said.

"For the players who have not played in the last few matches it was good to play - everyone is happy. It is one step forward."
