Goal-line technology cannot be used in the Capital One Cup until the Hawk-Eye system is configured to work with the competition's Mitre football, according to the Daily Mail.

The manufacturers hope to resolve the issue in time for subsequent rounds of this season's competition, which is run by the Football League.

The Premier League and FA Cup both use the Hawk-Eye configured Nike ball.

The competition has progressed without a major goal-line dispute involving a Premier League side so far, but both Hawk-Eye and Mitre will hope that Manchester United's televised clash with Liverpool passes without incident this evening.
