Torquay United turn to pig racing

As the team struggles on the pitch and crowd numbers continue to suffer, League 2 strugglers Torquay United found a new way to entice fans to their Plainmoor ground: Pig Racing.

Currently sitting 18th in the basement division with just nine points from their opening nine games, Gulls' officials have come up with a new 'Live at Plainmoor' series of entertainment nights to keep the fans smiling.

Those attending the event on November 8 are invited to bet on and even sponsor the pigs in the event that will be held in the club's bar, the Gulls Nest.

Though worryingly (for the animals), those who want more information are being asked to contact Torquay United's head chef.

Seems the pigs are both the competitors AND dinner…
