Wayne Rooney has been included in England's World Cup squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland, after Manchester United boss David Moyes confirmed he will be fit to play the final two Group H clashes at Wembley.

Rooney sat out United's Wednesday night's Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk after suffering a shin injury in a training ground clash with team-mate Danny Welbeck, but Moyes calmed England fears by confirming the injury is not serious.

Southampton striker Rickie Lambert retains his place in Roy Hodgson's latest selection despite the return of key players from injury, with Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge also back in the mix after injury kept him out of England's qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine last month.

Everton's Ross Barkley has impressed for Everton and is once again included, with Tottenham's Andros Townsend a contender for a starting spot in the absence of Arsenal's Theo Walcott.

Hodgson is expected to stand by first choice goalkeeper Joe Hart, despite his indifferent form at Manchester City, which continued in the Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.
