Nick Powell struck twice as Wigan sealed their first win in Europe with a 3-1 victory over Slovenian champions Maribor.

Powell gave the FA Cup holders the lead after heading in following a dreadful mistake by Maribor goalkeeper Jasmin Handanovic. Ben Watson then headed in Wigan's second from Jean Beausejour's cross.

Maribor reduced the deficit after the break through Marcos Tavares but Powell sealed the win in stoppage time after firing home.

Second-half substitute Sergio Floccari scored two late goals to hand Lazio a valuable point in a 3-3 draw at Trabzonspor in Group J. Goals from Yusuf Erdogan and Adrian Mierzejewski gave the hosts a 2-0 lead midway through the first half after Ogenyi Onazi reduced the deficit for Lazio.

Trabzonspor struck again before half-time through Paulo Henrique but Floccari then came to the rescue with two goals for the visitors. The result leaves the two sides level on four points at the top of the pool.

Lyon and Guimaraes shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Stade Gerland to ensure both sides remain unbeaten in Group I. Moussa Maazou, who was later sent off, gave the Portuguese visitors a first-half lead but that was wiped out by Maxime Gonalons after the interval.

Rijeka had goalkeeper Ivan Vargic to thank for a string of fine saves as Real Betis were held to a 1-1 Group I draw in a largely one-sided contest at Stadion Kantrida.

The Croatians took the lead through a wonderful Leon Benko volley in the 10th minute but after Betis levelled through Mabwati Cedrick's rising drive four minutes later there was only going to be one winner, with the Spanish side dominating.

Goals by Paco Alcacer - benefiting from a terrible error by Kuban goalkeeper Aleksandr Belenov - and Sofiane Feghouli saw Miroslav Djukic's Valencia get back on track in Group A with a 2-0 victory away to Kuban Krasnodar.

Diego Perotti's penalty and a last-gasp strike from Carlos Bacca sealed a 2-0 victory for Sevilla against 10-man Freiburg.
