Paris Saint-Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic has once again called for Wayne Rooney to join the French champions if he chooses to leave Manchester United at the end of the season.

Earlier this year, Ibrahimovic was vocal in his desire to play alongside Rooney at the Parc des Princes and believes the England international is still a possibility of moving to PSG given United's poor start to the season.

Although Laurent Blanc would be unlikely to sign another striker given the depth that summer recruit Edinson Cavani has given to his attack, Ibrahimovic believes PSG's bright future could tempt Rooney.

"When there was talk of Rooney joining us in Paris it was a prospect that excited me," he said. "I think he made it clear in the summer that he wanted a fresh challenge -- and things have not been going so well for Manchester United this season.

"If he still wants to move next summer, or in January, I would urge him to come and play with me in Paris. The only direction this club is going is up."

The Sweden international continued his praise of Rooney, insisting the United forward is one of very few players he would enjoy lining up alongside.

"If he did join he would have to get used to the fact that Zlatan scores even better goals than him," Ibrahimovic added. "But I don't just want to play with great players, I want to play with technically great players -- and that is what he is.

"You can work on the technical side but it is not something you can be taught. You have it or you don't and Rooney does."

Earlier this week, Sir Alex Ferguson revealed Wayne Rooney had asked for a transfer on the final day of last season. Watch Ferguson's first interview since leaving Manchester United here.
