Ozil can propel Arsenal to title - Khedira
Mesut Ozil's 'genius' can propel Arsenal to this year's Premier League title, according to his former Real Madrid team-mate Sami Khedira.
The £42.5 million summer signing has provided a huge boost to Arsenal, settling immediately with one goal and four assists in his first six games, helping the in-form Gunners to top both the league table and their Champions League group.
Khedira says that his fellow German international had added that extra bit of quality which Arsene Wenger's side had needed to really challenge for the biggest trophies.
"They already had a strong team in any case, but Mesut makes them into the best team in England," he is quoted as saying in the Mirror.
"I am sure he can be the player that makes things happen for them and win them the championship. Mesut is a genius on the field, there is no other way to describe him."
Meanwhile Ozil's former side Madrid have been stumbling in his absence - with the La Liga giant's marquee signing Gareth Bale making little impact due to fitness problems inherited from his interrupted pre-season.
Khedira admitted that his friend's exit had been blow to the Blancos dressing-room.
"There was some disappointment among Madrid's players because he is the best in the world in his position, but I understand his decision as a player and a friend," he said.
