David Silva has pledged his future to Manchester City after he was again linked with Real Madrid.

Silva insisted he is content to remain at the Etihad Stadium and downplayed speculation about his future.

Reports in Spain suggested Silva is one of Real's major targets as they plan to strengthen again next summer.

But the 27-year-old, who joined City from Valencia in 2010, signed a five-year contract extension last September and indicated he will not push for a move.

He told Mundo Deportivo: "I'm very happy in Manchester and I think this is similar to what happens every year. There are always rumours and, in the end, the player has to be calm. I renewed my contract because I am happy over there [in Manchester]."

Silva, who is originally from Tenerife but came through Valencia's youth system, is thought to have interested Real before he joined City.

He has gone on to win the Premier League and the FA Cup for City, scoring 20 goals in 148 games for the club.
