Manchester United are reportedly ready to stump up £22 million to sign Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez.

David Moyes is keen to freshen up his options out wide, with Antonio Valencia, Nani and Ashley Young all failing to sparkle so far this season.

Wilfried Zaha has not even featured for the first team, despite impressing in pre-season, and is expected to leave the club on loan in January with Newcastle a likely destination.

United tried to sign Sanchez in 2011 before he opted to join Barca from Udinese for £30 million, but he failed to meet expectations in his first two seasons at Camp Nou.

However Sanchez has hit four goals in eight games for Barca this season. His impressive form has piqued the interest of Moyes, according to the Daily Star.

It is believed Moyes will be handed a £100m war chest in January to strengthen his squad after United's poor start to the season that has left the Premier League champions off the pace in ninth place in the early running.
