Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has targeted success in the Champions League, starting with Tuesday's group match with CSKA Moscow.

The Argentinean notched two goals as his side saw off West Ham 3-1 in the Premier League on Saturday, and they now head to Russia for what is almost a must-win game.

City's home defeat to Bayern Munich in their last Champions League outing means City will find themselves third in Group D.

And having fallen early in the previous two seasons, Aguero is keen for City to prove themselves on the biggest stage at club level.

"We have to win, don't we?" Aguero told City TV. "It's an important three points because then we play them at home.

"We won against West Ham away in the Premier League and now we have to win away in Moscow as well.

"It was very important to win against West Ham and now we have to keep winning away matches. We have to continue."

Manager Manuel Pellegrini, meanwhile, has concerns over the state of the Khimki Arena - CSKA's temporary home while their Luzhniki Stadium is rebuilt for the 2018 World Cup.

UEFA sent a group of experts to inspect the pitch at the Khimki Arena and the Russian side were forced to play their last Champions League game against Viktoria Plzen in St Petersburg as much of the playing surface had to be re-laid after heavy rainfall.

"We don't know what the condition of the pitch will be," Pellegrini said. "But we hope that UEFA allowed them to play the game there because it is a good pitch."
