Pellegrini delighted to end City's travel sickness

Vincent Kompany, Martin Demichelis and Jack Rodwell are set to miss Manchester City's Champions League trip to Russia to face CSKA Moscow.

City captain Kompany, who sustained a thigh injury in the 3-1 win over Everton on October 5, could make his comeback against Chelsea on Sunday.

And fellow centre-back Demichelis, who is yet to make his debut for the club, has also been ruled out of the European tie.

The Argentina international, a £4 million signing from Atletico Madrid in September, played for City's reserve team against Rochdale last week but is not deemed fit enough.

Midfielder Rodwell, who has only made one senior appearance this season, also faced Rochdale but has not yet been brought back into the senior squad.

With Kompany and Demichelis ruled out, City manager Manuel Pellegrini has only got two senior specialist centre-backs, Matija Nastasic and Joleon Lescott, available to him.

Midfielder Javi Garcia is an option, however, having partnered Nastasic in the middle of the defence in Saturday's 3-1 win over West Ham.
