David Moyes has denied rumours of a rift with Robin van Persie after the Manchester United striker missed the Champions League clash with Real Sociedad on Wednesday night.

Reports suggest the Dutchman had a bust-up with the United manager following the 1-1 draw last weekend at Old Trafford against Southampton. Van Persie was absent from the side that defeated Sociedad, but it was down to injury rather than a falling out with the manager.

With Van Persie expected to be fit for the match against Stoke on Saturday, Moyes was quick to deny any problems between himself and Van Persie.

"I would say that's complete nonsense," Moyes said on the rumours.

"He [Van Persie] is doing some great stuff for us and, contrary to what you've said, I've only found him fantastic to work with. I'm finding it hard to answer it because he's been that good.

"All that stuff you're saying is a load of rubbish. I don't even need to answer it because it's such rubbish. He's been great, fantastic."
