Yaya Toure has had a meeting with FIFA's anti-racism chief to discuss events in Russia last week when he was racially abused by a section of the CSKA Moscow supporters.

The Manchester City midfielder spoke to Jeffrey Webb, the head of FIFA's anti-racism task force, on Sunday after his club's 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.

Webb had said he wanted to hear about Toure's experience of being abused after the BBC reported they had "a good conversation" and that the former Barcelona player agreed to help Webb's task force "in any way".

Webb also met Piara Powar, the executive director of European anti-discrimination body Fare, in London on Saturday to talk about the incident in Moscow.

UEFA is conducting an inquiry to discover why, after Toure reported the abuse to Romanian referee Ovidiu Hategan, the official did not follow new guidelines and halt the game so spectators could be told to stop.

Webb said he supported FIFA president Sepp Blatter's stance that heavier punishments are required for clubs where racism is not addressed, including expelling them from competitions.

He told the BBC: "And I agree with him completely, the time for fines and closures is over."

Toure had suggested black players should boycott the 2018 World Cup in Russia unless the problem is addressed.

However, CSKA Moscow, who denied Toure had been racially abused and had claimed he was the only person to hear anything, blamed a British smear campaign.

CSKA general director Roman Babaev told the Daily Telegraph: "The British do constantly try to find any reason to smear Russian football. I read the main English publications and they are raising a real hysteria. They are writing that the fans wanted to almost lynch the dark-skinned players on the field. And most journalists probably didn't even watch the match."
