Manchester City face more cause for concern as captain Vincent Kompany could miss their next three games following a setback in his recovery from a groin injury.

Kompany has not played for City since limping off in their Premier League win over Everton on October 5, but reports in the Daily Mail indicate the defender will be out for a further week after he felt pain during his independent training sessions with the club's medical team.

It is understood the Belgian is set to miss City's League Cup trip to Newcastle on Wednesday as well as their home tie with Norwich on Saturday, while he is also a doubt for the Champions League game with CSKA Moscow at the Etihad next week.

Reports suggest Kompany will only be considered to feature against Moscow if he has returned to training alongside his team-mates by Monday.
