Wenger pleased by 'convincing' win
Arsene Wenger is not only delighted with Arsenal surging five points clear in the Premier League - it's the manner in which they did it that particularly pleases the Frenchman.
Arsenal had lost their previous two games at home, to Chelsea in the League Cup and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, but responded with a 2-0 Premier League win over Liverpool on Saturday evening.
The Gunners began the match two points clear of their opponents, but stretched that lead to five thanks to goals from Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsay.
"It was important to respond to convince people that we can win these big games," said Wenger.
"To win it in a convincing way is even more important.
"It was vital to win because had we not won people would say 'Arsenal cannot win the big games at home'. It is done in a convincing way and with good solidarity and focus."
Arsenal travel to Dortmund next and follow that with a trip to Manchester United.
Wenger added: "We have plenty of big games coming up and we have the ability to deal well with them."
"We live in a world where we have to be questioned and the only response we can give is on the football pitch.
"I am always confident but there is a long way to go. This was an important win for the team, for the club and nobody would dispute we deserved it."
