Adebayor: Only death could make me lower

Emmanuel Adebayor says he "cannot get any lower" as Andre Villas-Boas continues to freeze him out at Tottenham.

Adebayor has not featured for his club this season, with Villas-Boas banishing him to train with the reserves, despite Spurs' struggles in front of goal.

Villas-Boas splashed out £26 million on Spanish striker Roberto Soldado this summer, but he has scored just one Premier League goal from open play. Overall Spurs have netted just nine times in 10 league matches, and fired a blank in their goalless draw against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

"I have tried to keep my belief but I cannot get any lower. If I am lower than this, it means I am dead," Adebayor told the Sun.

"What I found difficult was not training with the youth team, but when it is left to the physio to come and tell me, as one of the senior players in the squad, to go and train with the youth, I find it very difficult."

Adebayor moved to Spurs from Manchester City for £5 million last year, having already spent a successful season on loan at White Hart Lane under Harry Redknapp.

But his stock at Spurs dipped dramatically during Villas-Boas' first season in charge, with Togo international Adebayor citing injuries, the Africa Cup of Nations and his brother's funeral as reasons for his poor form.

It is believed Besiktas will renew their interest in Adebayor when the transfer window opens in January. Adebayor already turned down a switch to Turkey in August, and is still keen to fight for his place at Spurs.

"I have three years left on my contract and I'm not going anywhere," he added.

"I'm fully committed, my fitness levels are getting back and I have unfinished business here."
