Hernandez hints at United exit

Javier Hernandez has hinted he could be forced to leave Manchester United if he does not get more playing time.

Hernandez was an unused substitute in United's 3-1 win at Fulham on Saturday after scoring two goals in midweek against Norwich in the Capital One Cup. On Sunday he used his Twitter account to retweet an article from Sky Sports which quoted his Mexico teammate Carlos Vela saying he should consider his future at the club.

He later deleted the retweet.

Hernandez has four goals in as many starts for United this season, but is behind first-choice strikers Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney in David Moyes' pecking order up front.

Having netted on his debut in United's 3-1 Community Shield win over Chelsea in 2010, Hernandez ousted Dimitar Berbatov from Sir Alex Ferguson's starting XI to help the club win their historic 19th league title.

The signing of Van Persie last season has seen his opportunities restricted however, with Danny Welbeck also contending for a place up front.

Vela, who also struggled for game time during seven years at Arsenal, had warned his compatriot that he may have to leave United is his situation does not improve.

Vela said: "Javier is my good friend - and I hope he gets lots of chances this season at Manchester United.

"He is one of the best finishers in England and deserves chances under the new coach.

"If he plays regularly he will score, so I don't totally understand why a player of his quality has not played more games.

"If he doesn't play regularly he will need to think about leaving.

"You always want to succeed at the biggest clubs - but if he is not given the chance there will be big teams in England and Europe wanting him."
