Mourinho keen to bring in new striker at Chelsea
Jose Mourinho will be in the market for a new striker in January to boost Chelsea's title challenge and provide competition for Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto'o, according to the Daily Mail.
The Chelsea manager withdrew Torres for Eto'o after an hour against Newcastle on Saturday, who proved ineffectual as the side slumped to a 2-0 defeat at St James' Park.
Mourinho is reportedly frustrated with his current strike partnership, who have scored just one goal apiece in the Premier League this season. Back-up front man Demba Ba is without a league goal since March, while Romelu Lukaku and Victor Moses will remain on loan until the summer.
The Daily Mail's Rob Shepherd believes Chelsea may test Borussia Dortmund's resolve with a bid for Robert Lewandowski, who has denied that he has a pre-contract agreement to switch to Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
Lewandowski would be ruled out of Mourinho's Champions League plans, however, as would previous target Wayne Rooney. Radamel Falcao, allegedly turned down by Chelsea for his lack of movement outside of the box, has scored 10 goals for Monaco so far this season.
